Local 94-mph fastball

Madison Erhardt

It's not everyday you see a college pitcher throwing a 94-mile-per-hour fast ball, and when it happens it usually catches a few eyes.

Okanagan College Coyotes coach Jared Johnson took to twitter on Sunday to show pitcher Trevor Brigden launching a rocket through the bullpen at 94 miles per hour.

The O.C. Coyote and Kelowna Falcons pitcher says he has been training all winter trying to gain velocity.

''I've been sitting around 90-plus miles per hour consistently over the last couple of weeks so hopefully I can stay there all season and even add a couple more miles on,'' Brigden said.

The 23-year-old Toronto native has attracted a number of scouts in just the past couple of weeks.

''I have a tryout coming up next week for the Minnesota Twins, I'm going to throw for them. One scout messaged me over Instagram after watching another video that the college has posted of me throwing. That scout is from the Kansas City Royals.''

Brigden says he doesn't have a team in mind.

''No one in particular, any team that would be willing to pick me up, I would be happy to play for them," he said.

''I have been playing baseball my whole life so to be getting some attention now is a good feeling."
