Owner of hwy dog found

A dog that was rescued from the Coquihalla Highway on Friday will be reunited with its owner.

Carlie Holman was plowing on Highway 5 between Zopkios brake check and the Great Bear Snowshed at about 1 p.m. when she and her co-worker noticed something up a snowbank.

They rescued the shivering, nervous dog and went to posting on Facebook to try and find the owner.

“He took a little bit, but then when he realized it was OK, you should have seen him. He jumped up on me and he was licking my face, and he was just so thankful, he was so happy. It was one of those tear-jerking moments,” said Holman.

The dog had a Harley Davidson collar and his nails are trimmed and he appears fed.

Holman said the dog was frightened and cold but with a little convincing she managed to gain his trust and get him back to the truck.

"This dog does look like he was loved,” she said.

On Saturday night, Holman posted on Facebook saying the owner had been found.

“He is an out of town trucker. We are meeting tomorrow," said Holman.

The dog is currently with Holman in Chilliwack and will soon be meeting up with its owner.
