Watching the air up there

Air quality in the Lavington area has been of concern to many citizens of late, and to keep eye on it, the District of Coldstream will contribute funds towards the purchase of air quality monitors.

The Lavington Life Society will be asked to provide funding as well.

There are concerns the Ministry of Environment may eventually remove an existing air quality monitor in Lavington, and the goal with the new monitors is to keep track of any potential impact on public health.

"The more data you have, the more credible it is," said Coun. Doug Dirk.

The monitors could be located throughout Coldstream, and Mayor Jim Garlick says there are a number of sources for poor air quality, including vehicles, agriculture and industry.

The Lavington Life Society is a non-profit organization created to protect and enhance a healthy community.
