'Too pretty' to sell crack

Amber Rose was stopped from selling crack cocaine to "feed her family" because she was "too pretty."

The model and founder of The Amber Rose SlutWalk has previously shared details of her former life as a stripper. But in an interview with The Red Pill podcast she opened up about her attempts to sell drugs in order to support her family.

"I usually don't tell people this but I tried selling crack in my neighborhood," Amber shared, according to People. "I don't really think people understand how 'hood I grew up... the s**t that I had to overcome, and even overcome after I became famous... My life has never been easy... (But) it did push me to that limit to go fend for my family."

However, the 35-year-old revealed her career as a drug dealer didn't last long as she was considered to be "too pretty" for the dangerous line of work.

"They said I was gonna get robbed, I was a girl and I was too pretty, and it wasn't going to happen," she revealed.

After being ruled out of the frontline role, Amber continued to work behind the scenes in the drug business, weighing and bagging the drugs in exchange for a cut of the dealers' profits, insisting that at the time it was what she needed to do "to feed my family."

The mother of one, who shares son Sebastian, five, with rapper Wiz Khalifa, added she hadn't previously spoken about her drug experiences publicly because of the double standards in society. The SlutWalk founder felt it was considered more acceptable when men sell drugs in order to survive.

"When it comes to me, do I have to give you this story to understand? It's been nine years since I been famous, I never told that to nobody," she said of her tough past. "It was a hard time in the beginning, and I became a stripper very young. I made that decision, nobody in my family put that on me."
