Subway serves up donation

Vernon Subway restaurants served up $5,000 for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation campaign OPERATION: Surgical Care for Life.

Local Subway co-owners Gurjit Jhajj and Raj Jaswal have been long-term donors to the foundation and recognize the importance of improving healthcare in the North Okanagan.

They have donated more than $72,000 since 2004 to many VJH Foundation initiatives.

“We have family members who have needed to use the hospital. Everyone will need the hospital at some point in their lives and that is why we continue to support the VJH Foundation,” said Jaswall.

Lisa Westermark, VJHF executive director said “Gurjit and Raj are kind and genuine people who share a commitment to the community. They are joyful in giving back. It is very special.”

OPERATION: Surgical Care for Life is raising $3.6 million to equip an additional operating room, purchase six anaesthetic machines and a new urology table with real-time imaging.

The campaign will give VJH surgeons the ability to perform more surgeries, ultimately reducing wait times and improving patient outcomes.

Donations can be made online, by calling 250-558-1362, or by mail at VJH Foundation, 2101–32nd Street, Vernon, BC, V1T 5L2.
