Just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Penticton Search and Rescue responded to a report of a hang-gliding crash on Pincushion Mountain.
A 911 came in by a young female operator that she had crashed just after take off and was suffering from lower leg injuries and needed immediate medical aid and evacuation.
The subject maintained contact with rescue crews while they arrived on scene.
Helicopter Rescue crews lowered rescuers down to the female by the summit of the mountain.
The hang-glider was airlifted down the mountain and transferred to BC EHS personnel and taken to Kelowna General Hospital for further treatment.
''Although we sound like a broken record, proper trip planning is essential no matter what you do - as no one plans to have an event or emergency when recreating,"Kelvin Hall - SAR Manager said.
