A Kelowna Rockets game earlier this month has gained national attention.
SportsCentre's Jay and Dan designated an entire segment to an odd incident that occurred at Kelowna's Prospera Place on Jan. 4, when the Rockets played the Prince George Cougars.
"The Kelowna Rockets Instagram account asked 'have you ever seen this before?' and I have not," Jay Onrait said of images showing a puck split clean in two.
Onrait frequents the Okanagan often as his parents have lived in Vernon since 1997.
"You know what's weird about the Rockets, is they have Ogopogo on their jersey, but he's not the mascot of the team. It's Rocky the Racoon." Onrait said.
"OK that makes no sense," O'toole replied.
"Exactly. Figure it out, Rockets. We still love you though," Onrait added.
The Rockets have responded via Twitter.
"We moved from Tacoma so wanted to honour them in keeping the Rockets name, and we added the Ogopogo to our jersey to pay homage to Kelowna.''
"We are a family orientated team from Bruce down, so we chose not to have a large dragon mascot, but go with a Raccoon instead, for the kids," they tweeted.
