Community awards open

Nominations are now open for the Summerland Community Awards.

The annual awards facilitated by the local chamber of commerce aims to recognize the efforts of residents who work towards a stronger community.

The three categories include awards for youth leadership, arts and culture and citizen of the year.

“It is crucial that we, as a community, recognize those individuals that give so much to make Summerland the great community it is,” said chamber executive director, David D. Hull.

“We see the out front public folk making a difference however there are a ton of people working quietly and tirelessly behind the scenes to make our community great.  It is important to look at all the contributors when making nominations.”

Nominations for the community awards close February 22.  All three community award categories will be adjudicated by an independent panel.  “It is important that these awards are subjective and transparent and not a popularity contest.”

Additional information on the awards and nomination information can be found on the chamber website.
