Fed-up with snowplows

Residents on both sides of Okanagan Lake are left frustrated with what they claim is snow removal work done by city snowplows.

One West Kelowna resident woke up Sunday morning to find their driveway on McLeod Road snowed in.

“How is a 65-year-old woman expected to remove this left by the city plow from her driveway that she painstakingly pays to have cleared,” said Geri Mesic.

She said the chunks at the end of her driveway prevent her from leaving.

Another Castanet reader who lives in Kelowna on Gordon Drive reached out saying they woke up to find their fence broken.

“I called the city this morning to report that their sidewalk snow removal contractor broke my fence on Saturday,” she said.

The woman, who doesn’t want her name to be published out of fear of further difficulties said an eight-foot panel is now teetering from the post beside the sidewalk in a school walk route.

“The message I received from someone [at the city] was that they’ll take a look in the spring when the snow melts,” she said. “I don’t want them near my property.”
