2 Vees off to prospect game

The Penticton Vees have announced captain Massimo Rizzo and defenceman Mason Snell have been named to Team West in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s top prospect game.

Taking place Jan. 22 in Okotoks, Alta., the game is one the the premier Junior ‘A’ hockey events in the country and gets players in front of scouts from all over the hockey world, including the NHL, NCAA and Canadian Universities.

Rizzo, from Burnaby, is in his second year with the Vees and has recorded three goals and 13 assists in 15 games. He is fresh off an appearance with Team Canada West at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge where he helped Canada West claim bronze.

Snell, from Clarington, Ontario, is in his first season with Penticton after two years in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He also just returned from claiming a bronze medal at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge with Team Canada West.

So far this season Snell has appeared in 29 games for the Vees, scoring twice while adding 11 assists. He is counted on to shut down opposing teams top players as part of the Vees top defensive pairing with James Miller.
