Long holiday lines at YLW

The holiday rush has started at Kelowna International Airport, with long lines reported at security.

A photo taken Tuesday morning shows a massive line to security, all the way back to the check-in area.

Airport spokesperson Jessica Hewitt says security is busier than normal due to “peak period volume.”

“Passengers are able to monitor security wait times on ylw.kelowna.ca," she noted.

People travelling through YLW are advised to arrive early for their flights. At least 90 minutes before domestic flights and two hours for international flights.

The airport expects more than 100,000 passengers during the next three weeks and has extra staff to handle the increased flow of people.

According to YLW’s website, all but two departing flights are currently on time. For tips on how to make your trip as smooth as possible, click here
