Hampers for the holidays

Madison Erhardt

It's the busiest time of year at the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank.

Hamper distribution kicked off Monday morning, with more than 20 stations of food for people to fill up their carts.

“The need in our community is constant, and we deeply thank all those who have donated funds, food or time," said executive director Lenetta Parry as recipients began collecting hampers to see them through the holidays.

"We hope to create a festive atmosphere for our clients during hamper distribution, complete with visits from Santa, hot chocolate and Christmas treats,” she added.

More than 2,000 hampers are expected to be distributed this Christmas, and hamper distribution is expected to continue all week.

This is the first Christmas the food bank is operating out of its new, larger location on Enterprise Way.
