Fighting for her life

A Kelowna woman is in hospital fighting for her life after she was involved in a horrific crash early Monday morning.

Kelowna is rallying around Devon Loy after the cab of the red Chevy Avalanche she was travelling in was virtually torn apart. Loy was found in the back seat of the cab which was split to the bed by a light standard.

The 26-year-old driver of the vehicle walked away from the collision and was found to be impaired after RCMP conducted a roadside sobriety test and further tests at the detachment. The man is now facing impaired driving charges.

Devon was rushed to hospital in a medically induced coma and is still fighting for her life.
Now her friends and family have started a GoFundMe page to help her battle back.

Brittany Torjusson, says, "It kills me to have to make this page, but I have to. Many of you know Devon from school or around town. If you know her you know she is selfless, kind, always smiling and would do anything for anyone. Now she needs our help."

Torjusson says, "Devon has an extremely long road to recovery and ICBC will take a while to get that sorted. But unfortunately, the bills don't stop."

Torjusson says, the money will be used to help pay her medical bills and other living expenses.

"Anything you can do to help relieve the financial stress in an already horrible situation is much appreciated," says Torjusson.
