UPDATE 9:55 a.m.

Power has now been restored to all but a handful of customers in Lake Country. Power was knocked out to more than 2,000 customers after a traffic accident just after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

ORIGINAL 7:03 a.m.

A couple of thousand Lake Country residents woke up without power Tuesday morning.

According to BC Hydro, 2022 customers are without power after a vehicle knocked out a transformer on Okanagan Centre Road just after 6 a.m.

Emergency crews are on scene and have begun their assessment.

No word on when power will be restored.
