Needles in family area

A Kelowna resident was walking to work when he stumbled upon a pile of hypodermic needles in a family neighbourhood.

Cody Doerksen says he was shocked to see the bag with safe injection paraphernalia on Dec. 4 along Abbott Street, near Lake Avenue.

“Kids walk from downtown, from school, and there are a lot of kids in our neighbourhood here, so it is shocking to see,” said Doerksen.

He said he called the non-emergency RCMP number to alert them of the needles, and firefighters came to clean them up within 30 minutes.
