Charged with manslaughter

Nearly two years after police began an investigation into the death of 55-year-old Troy Streeper, the man charged in his death made a court appearance. 

A Jessie Romeo Fougere has been charged with manslaughter.

On Feb. 16, 2017 the Dawson Creek RCMP and the North District Major Crimes Unit began an investigation into the suspicious death of Dawson Creek man, Troy  Streeper. 

On Dec. 7, 2018 Fougere was charged with manslaughter and a warrant for his arrest was issued. 

On Dec. 8, 2018 investigators determined that Fougere was in a home in the Charlie Lake area, just outside Fort St. John. 

Police state that the home was contained with assistance from the Fort St. John RCMP, North District Major Crimes, and the RCMP Emergency Response Team. 

"After an extensive attempt at negotiation, the RCMP Emergency Response Team entered the residence and arrested Mr. Fougere," stated Cpl. Madonna Saunderson.

Fougere made his initial appearance Dec. 9 with another slated for Dec. 11 to answer to the charge of manslaughter.

It is believed that the two men knew each other.
