It's a magical ride for the whole family at Silver Sage Stables in Coldstream.

The sleigh rides feature horses, hot cocoa, cookies, and carolling around the fire.

“We want to make the most of it while friends and family are in town and looking for things to do," said Kelly MacIntosh, teamster and event organizer. "We are happy to share our passion of draft horses."

"The stories of our grandparents working with horses on the farm are not as frequent anymore. We want to keep the tradition going and give everyone a great experience.”

Horse Drawn Okanagan and Silver Sage Stables invite guests to take part in sleigh rides Dec. 21 to 24, and 27 to 31, every half hour starting at 3:30 p.m. and ending at 6 p.m.

You might recognize the horses and drivers from other community events in the Okanagan, such as sleigh rides at Vernon's Historic O’Keefe Ranch in 2017.

“We are really looking forward to working with our hosts, Patti and Maury Grant of Silver Sage Stables in Coldstream. They have a gorgeous farm with great horse amenities and lots of experience hosting events and weddings. The backdrop is stunning and great for family photos, especially at sunset.”

Proceeds benefit CRIS Adaptive Adventures, an Okanagan-based charitable organization that provides outdoor and wilderness programs to people with physical and mental disabilities.

The cost is $17.50 for adults, $10 for children four to 12, ages three and under are free, and groups of six or more receive a 10 per cent discount.

Sleigh rides are approximately 20 to 25 minutes long, sleighs can seat up to 16 people, and there are as many as four sleighs going at one time.

Guests are encouraged to dress warm and bring a seat cushion or lap blanket.
