The start of Kelsey Serwa's farewell tour will have to wait a few weeks.
The World Cup ski cross season was slated to begin Friday in Val Thorens, France, but was cancelled due to a lack of snow in the resort high in the Alps.
World Cup officials say conditions in the Northern Alps have been challenging the past few weeks with both a lack of snow and warm weather, making it impossible to produce the snow necessary to build the course.
Those same conditions have also cancelled the second stop in Montafor, Austria, next week.
The World Cup ski cross season is now scheduled to open in Arosa, Switzerland, Dec. 16 and 17. A second pre-Christmas race is slated for Innichen, Italy, Dec. 20 to 22.
Serwa, the reigning Olympic gold medalist, has announced this will be her last season on the World Cup circuit.
