West Kelowna resident Heather Manaog is hoping the public can help rescue an apparently abandoned dog near Trader's Cove. 

"On Sunday, I came across a young brindle female with tall, floppy ears. She was very scared and skinny. We tried all day to get her to come near us. She seems to stay in the same area, which makes me think that someone possibly dumped her out of their car up the logging road," Manaog said. 

Manaog left food out for the pup, estimated to be about six months old.

''I hope that she eats it, and I plan to go back to see if I can see her, as well if she ate the food. If more people come together, we can save her."

The pup is believed to be a Whippet-Mastiff mix.
