Crash victim identified

The young man that lost his life in a single-vehicle crash in Penticton Sunday night has been identified by friends and social media.

Barett Friesen, who was in his 20s, was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that failed to make a corner heading up Carmi Avenue sometime Sunday night.

His truck was found Monday morning on its roof in the yard of Superior Peat, down an embankment and against the side of a shipping container.

“Barett has a smile that was infectious, he light up a room with his humour and quick wit,”says a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for his funeral. “He always was up for anything and had fear of not many things in life.  He loved being outdoors and was a true man’s man.”

Friesen worked as a mechanic at Murray GM, according to the page.
