BC sailors free another turtle

The crew of another B.C.-based warship has rescued sea turtles off the coast of Central America.

HMCS Edmonton is patrolling the Pacific during Operation Caribbe, a multi-national patrol to intercept drugs being smuggled through international waters. The ship is based at CFB Esquimalt, near Victoria.

The Canadian Armed Forces tweeted photos of officers rescuing two sea turtles tangled in fishing lines this weekend.

When crew members spotted the turtles, officers launched an inflatable boat to free them.

Just two weeks ago, Esquimalt-Based HMCS Nanaimo found another turtle hung up on a rope attached to a buoy in the Caribbean and set it free as well.
