Cops urge HA to talk

UPDATE: 1:50 p.m.

Police are appealing to members of the Hells Angels to come forward with information about a gang member's death.

Cpl. Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said members of the Hells Angels may have "intimate knowledge" of what happened, and he urged them to speak to officers, regardless of their current involvement in criminal activity.

"We will go to wherever you are, we will sit down and speak with you and we will treat you with the utmost respect. We want to solve your friend's – your associate's – murder as much as you do," Jang told a news conference in Surrey.

The cause of Wilson's death has not been released, but is believed to be targeted.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed a man found dead under the Golden Ears Bridge in Maple Ridge is Hells Angels member Chad Wilson.

Wilson was publicly identified on social media, Monday, after a bloodied body was found under the bridge on Sunday.

IHIT says Wilson, 43, of Maple Ridge, was a victim of homicide and is seeking public assistance in the investigation.

IHIT is working with Ridge Meadows RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence.

"Mr. Wilson was a well-established member of an organized crime group, and it is believed that his homicide was not random. IHIT will be engaging with numerous gang enforcement units throughout the Lower Mainland region that will be working to mitigate any ongoing violence," IHIT said in a press release Tuesday morning.

“While the motive for Mr. Wilson’s murder has not been confirmed, this is yet another reminder of the significant dangers posed to one’s life by being part of a criminal organization,” said Cpl. Frank Jang.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), email [email protected] or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
