Police confirm fatality

UPDATE 4:50 p.m.

The Penticton RCMP has now confirmed a man in his 20s died in this morning’s crash off Carmi Avenue.

In a brief news release, Const. James Grandy said its still unclear when the crash occurred, but it appears it was sometime overnight.

The young man was dead when emergency crews first arrived at the scene shortly after 8 a.m.

UPDATE 10:10 a.m.

The BC Coroners Service is at the scene of a single vehicle crash off Carmi Road in Penticton.

A truck failed to make a corner and was found on its roof at the Superior Peat Yard this morning shortly after 8 a.m.

RCMP investigators are using a drone to surveil the crash site from the road above. Carmi Road is now open to single lane alternating traffic.

Officers at the crash were not able to comment.

ORIGINAL 8:40 a.m.

Emergency crews were busy Monday morning in Penticton.

Crews were called to Carmi Avenue, just before 8 a.m. Monday morning to find a truck overturned at the Superior Soil Company.

The truck was found on its roof after apparently leaving the roadway and colliding with a shipping container.

There are reports that one person may have been killed.
