Vipers lose in shootout

Fans were treated to an output of offence at Kal Tire Place Sunday as the Vernon Vipers played host to the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies were out ahead 3-0 early into the second period before Connor Marritt and Michael Young scored for the Vipers pulling Vernon right back into the game.

The Grizzlies countered with another goal taking a 4 -2 lead before Jagger Williamson scored back to back goals for Vernon, tieing the game at 4-4.

The Grizzlies took back the lead seven minutes into the third period, however, in the dying seconds, Vernon's Josh Latta tied the game up at 5-5, sending the two teams to overtime.

Neither team was able to score in the extra frame so the game went to a shootout.

Of the eight shooters to take part in the shootout, only Cameron Thompson of the Grizzlies was able to score giving Victoria the 6-5 win in a shootout.

Riley Hughes of the Grizzlies had two goals and was the game's first star.
Vernon's Jagger Williamson also had two goals and was the game's second star. And Victoria's Alexander Campbell had a goal and two assists and was the game's third star.

Vernon finishes the month of November off at home with a stretch of four up-coming games including a tilt Friday night with division rivals Salmon Arm.
