Followed home, attacked

Vancouver police have released photos of a man who they say followed a woman home to her West End apartment and then attacked her early Saturday morning.

Authorities say that just before 3 a.m. Saturday, the assault happened in the area of Bute and Pendrell. The woman involved said she did not know the assailant.

Investigators have said they believe the attack was sexually motivated, and appears to be an isolated incident.

They describe the assailant as being of a slim build, in his 20s or 30s, white, with short dark hair and dark facial stubble. He may be walking with a limp.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing a burgundy toque, a black zip-up and jeans.

Anyone with information about the crime or who recognizes the man is asked to call the VPD at 604-717-0601 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
