Rockets road woes linger

The Kelowna Rockets have lost most of the ground they made up after Adam Foote took over as head coach of the struggling WHL squad.

After running up four wins in a row, the Rockets have now lost four straight - the latest a 7-0 shellacking at the hands of the Red Deer Rebels in the Alberta city Friday.

Brandon Hagel scored the only goal the Rebels would need, streaking past the Rockets defence and beating starter James Porter on a shortlanded breakaway.

The Rebels doubled the lead four minutes later when Dallon Melin tapped home a centering pass past Porter.

Chris Douglas and Reese Johnson, again shorthanded, scored three minutes apart midway through the second to increase the lead to 4-0 and bring an end to Porter's evening. He was replaced by Roman Basran after stopping 14 or 18 shots fired his way.

Basran allowed the other three goals, including a pair of power play markers in the third.

Ethan Anders turned away 28 shots to earn the shutout.

The Rockets six-game road trip comes to an end Saturday night in Edmonton.

They're back home to host Regina Wednesday.
