A Cowboy Christmas Carol

There has been many a retelling of Charles Dickens' timeless story of Ebeneezer Scrooge and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.

However, what would you get if you mixed 'A Christmas Carol' and the wild west?

A Cowboy Christmas Carol has a one night run at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 - 7:30 p.m.

After weeks alone in a line shack on the range, with the wind his only companion, you can see how a cowboy can start hearing things!

Meet Jeb, an ageing loner whose life is transformed by a voice from the past one Christmas Eve.

A Cowboy Christmas Carol is a “spirited” production combining drama, music and poetry to depict this ageless story in a western way.

Encouraging Jeb on his journey are musicians Rob Dinwoodie, Dixon Zalit, Kevin Bader, and Anjuli Dynna playing original and traditional songs of the season.

Ken Mather, historian, author and cowboy poet will bring a historical narrative to the show in stories and cowboy poetry of Christmas past.

And Vancouver actor, Dave Longworth puts a western twist on this Dickens tale as Jeb, the calloused old cowboy.

“A Cowboy Christmas Carol is about never being too old to change,” says Dinwoodie, “and there is no better time for change than Christmas”.

The story will take you back to a simpler time, when Christmas was marked by horse-drawn sleighs, family gatherings, and country dances.

"From fast-paced, toe-tapping jigs to thoughtful and reflective songs of the season, this show will make Christmas one you’ll remember for years to come," says Dinwoodie.

"Get your tickets now for this memorable evening of song, story, and drama that your whole family will enjoy."

Tickets can be purchased at ticketseller.ca or 250-549-SHOW.
