Bells will be ringing

Madison Erhardt

The Salvation Army's 2018 Christmas kettle campaign got underway in Kelowna, Thursday.

Community members gathered at the Salvation Army Community Life Centre in Rutland for the celebration.

"We have set a goal of raising $800,000 over the next five weeks. We set that goal knowing there are going to be challenges, of course. Everyone's dollar is being called upon for various wonderful causes in our community," said Darryl Burry, executive lead pastor.

All funds raised through the kettle campaign stay in the Okanagan.

"We have over 20 locations all over the Central Okanagan where the bells will be ringing," Burry added.
