Spice cheese recalled

A Vancouver Island cheese is being voluntarily pulled from shelves after being linked to E. coli which has so far infected five people.

The Qualicum Spice cheese, made by Little Qualicum Cheeseworks' should be returned to point of purchase or tossed altogether after an apparent E.coli outbreak between August and October.

The unpasteurized product, has a best before date which includes April 24, 2019.

The cheese is sold throughout B.C. grocery stores and a full investigation has been launched "to determine the source and extent of contamination," according to the BC Centre for Disease Control.

Only Qualicum Spice cheese has been impacted.
