Market heads indoors

The Vernon Farmers Market will move inside Kal Tire Place for the winter months.

On Monday a customer appreciation day was held at the Vernon Recreation Centre as a kick off to the winter market season.

"This is sort of our end of season customer appreciation," said Ingrid Baron, market manager. "We are just so thankful and appreciative of the community for supporting local and coming out and supporting the farmers market."

The market will still be filled with fresh produce, homebaked goods and handmade items throughout the winter.

"We're still going to have a whole lot of root vegetables, things like squash, carrots, potatoes, beets, will have preserves, apples, microgreens, meat, seafood, cheese, there will still be lots to choose from," Baron said. "Of course, we will still have lots of craft creations already for Christmas."

"There are lots of great Christmassy things here."

The outdoor market is now officially over for the season and the first indoor market will take place on Friday, Nov. 23 inside of Kal Tire Place.

The indoor markets last until the end of March before the market heads back outdoors again.

Try to continue to support local business throughout the winter months and if you do attend any of the markets make sure to bring a cash or food donation for the local food bank.
