Rockets streak ends at 4

It had to come sometime - that time was Saturday.

The Kelowna Rockets suffered their first loss since Adam Foote took over behind the bench nearly three weeks ago.

The Rockets four game winning streak was snapped in a 3-0 loss in Portland.

Shane Farkas turned away all 26 shots he faced and Joachim Blichfeld had a hand in all three Portland goals.

Farkas lowered his goals against average under three and recorded his first shutout of the season.

Blichfeld opened the scoring with the only support Farkas would need on the evening.

The overage Dane entered the Kelowna zone and took a wrist shot from the top of the right circle which glanced off James Porter's glove and trickled over the line.

Cody Glass doubled the the middle frame. Blichfeld's shot from the slot went wide, but the puck caromed off the backboards right to Glass who found the open side from a sharp angle.

Reece Newkirk tapped home a centering pass in the third to close out the scoring.

Portland peppered Porter with 50 shots on the evening.

The Rockets and Winterhawks will meet again in Portland Sunday before Kelowna heads north for a Wednesday date in Prince George.
