The strike at four Southern Interior casinos is over – barely.

Castanet News has learned casino workers, members of the BCGEU, narrowly accepted a new deal by a margin of 259 to 252.

Workers at four Gateway Casinos in Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon and Kamloops have been on strike since June 30.

A tentative deal was reached a week ago after 10 days of bargaining.

No other details are available at this time.

It's not known yet when the four casinos will resume regular operations.

The final round of voting on a tentative agreement that could end a strike by Southern Interior casino workers is wrapping up.

Nearly 700 BCGEU workers at Gateway Casinos began voting on the tentative agreement Tuesday.

Workers in Kelowna and Penticton wrapped up voting Wednesday, while those in Vernon and Kamloops are completing their vote this evening.

Results could be made public later tonight or Friday morning.

The BCGEU and Gateway reached a tentative agreement late last Wednesday.

If ratified, it would end a strike that has stretched into its fifth month.

Workers have been without a contract since September of last year.
