This one is not a scam

It would appear there may be two groups of people knocking on doors in the Okanagan mentioning FortisBC.

A scam Castanet warned Kelowna residents about Monday night involved people asking to see your FortisBC bill at the door.

Fortis says there are no such campaigns going on in the Okanagan. Click here for information on how to deal with door knockers claiming to represent the utility company.

At the same time, representatives from BC Spray Foam and Insulation say they are legitimately going door-to-door offering attic upgrade services.

Company representatives said they never ask to see utility bills or invoices.

They said they are concerned people may get confused with a legitimate campaign and a scam going on at the same time.

A door-to-door scam in the Kelowna area is targeting FortisBC users.

According to Castanet readers, people are knocking on doors, claiming to be representatives of the power utility.

They are claiming to represent the company with energy saving ideas, and ask to see a copy of your utility bill.

Those contacting Fortis have been told they are not conducting a door-to-door campaign.
