Homicide a gang hit

UPDATE: 3:40 p.m.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is seeking witnesses and dash cam video in relation to an Abbotsford homicide.  

Shots were fired about 6:45 p.m. Thursday outside the South Fraser Way CIBC. When police arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds, who died at the scene despite efforts to save him.           

Immediately after the shooting, a dark-coloured vehicle was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. IHIT is seeking dash cam video from drivers on the 32000 block of South Fraser Way before and after the shooting.

Investigators would also like to speak with anyone with information about a grey Infiniti sedan that was found on fire on the 6600 block of 238th Street in Langley about 7 p.m. The vehicle is believed to be associated to the shooting.    

Investigators have identified the victim, but are not releasing his name. They believe the shooting was a targeted gang hit.

Police in Abbotsford say a man is dead after what they believe was a targeted shooting Thursday evening.

A department spokeswoman says in a news release, police responded to reports of shots fired in front of the CIBC bank on South Fraser Highway near Cedar Park Place Thursday evening.

Sgt. Judy Bird says police found a dead male in the area, and the investigation is in the early stages.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team tweeted that investigators are on the scene.
