Cord cutting continues

Traditional television and telephone services continue to struggle when it comes to connecting with Millennials in Canada.

A new survey by the Angus Reid Institute indicates young Canadians continue to pull the plug and hang up the receiver as they opt out of traditional television and phone service in their homes.

The survey finds three-in-ten have either cancelled or never subscribed to home cable service, while more than four-in-ten Canadians choose not to have a landline phone.

Younger generations are leading the way on cutting the cord. Nearly half, 48 per cent of those under the age of 35 have either cancelled their cable or satellite service or never signed up for it in the first place, and an even greater number, 63 per cent are eschewing landline phones.
