ATM ditched on street

Police are working to confirm if an abandoned ATM is the one that was stolen during a break-in at Capri Bowling Lanes on Sept. 14.

A trailer was ditched for two days and noticed by residents Sunday afternoon, on the 300 block of Mills Road in Kelowna.

A resident tells Castanet it was a DCBank ATM, the same style that was stolen, and other items were stashed in the trailer.

“The guy by the trailer quickly covered it up when he saw us looking,” said the resident.

Police attended and discovered the trailer was not licensed.

"While investigating at the scene, RCMP officers were approached by a male, who they determined was the subject of an unrelated outstanding warrant for arrest, related to an alleged breach of his conditions of release," said Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.

He was taken into custody without incident.

It only took two masked men 43 seconds to steal the ATM from Capri Lanes. Owner Bryan Sargeant said they put the ATM in the back of a pickup and sped off before staff could get their licence plate.
