Recognize wallet snatcher?

Police are now turning to the public for help in identifying a thief who stole a wallet from a woman in Kelowna.

A Kelowna woman bowling at Capri Bowling Lanes on Friday night, during a private function, left her wallet and a few possessions on a table.

Sam Davis says everyone there was part of the private function, and she didn’t give much thought to leaving her things unattended.

A man, believed to be about 50 to 60 years of age, was caught on surveillance footage stealing the wallet.

Davis saw the security footage and provided it to Castanet News on Saturday.

“This guy walked in and was hanging around the back, so one of the people who worked there went up to him and was like, 'Hi, do you need a ticket or a drink or can I help you with anything?' and he was like 'No, I'm just waiting for somebody,'” Davis said, after reviewing the footage.

“Then he sat down across from our table while we were all bowling, and then he swiped it and left.”

Davis told Castanet she didn’t have much cash in the wallet, but that the Kate Spade wallet itself was the most valuable thing stolen.

Police describe the man as caucasian, wearing a blue baseball cap with a white emblem, blue jeans and a dark coloured hooded sweater.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Regan Donahue at 250-762-3300.
