Attack leaves three dead

Continental Gold Inc. says three workers were killed and several others were injured after a residence in Colombia that housed exploration geologists and contractors was attacked overnight.

The incident took place in the village of Ochali within the boundaries of its Berlin exploration project.

All of the affected workers are Colombian.

The Toronto-based company says early indications suggest it was carried out by a dissident group of ex-FARC members, a guerrilla movement involved in Colombia's armed conflict.

The attack comes two weeks after a mining engineer was killed and another injured in an unrelated attack at its Buritica mine site, located more than eight hours away by road.

Continental Gold says it is co-operating with authorities and working with the families affected.
