Rutland residents are being warned to be careful around South Rutland elementary school after a black bear was spotted in the area.

Christa Sajna shot video of the bear in Brighton Park, a small park on Milton Road with a children's playground.

The bear meandered through the park before wandering down Milton.

Sajna says she spotted the bear going through a neighbour's yard. She says the bear hopped the neighbour's fence, and probably another fence to get into park.

There were no children in the playground when the video was shot early Monday evening.

Sajna says she has lived in the neighbourhood for a couple of years, and this is the first bear she has seen.
