'Please keep looking'

UPDATE: 9:20 p.m.

Police say abducted Emma O'Keeffe is potentially in danger.

"I think any six-year-old that was taken against their will is definitely a risk," RCMP Corporal Rob King said. "This girl, given her medical conditions, is at higher risk."

RCMP said the vehicle was taken Sunday at around 5 p.m. after the girl's mother left it running and went into a business in the strip mall.

The girl was secured in a child seat in the back of the SUV and police said they don't believe she would be able to get out of the vehicle herself.

The suspect is believed to be driving a dark grey 2010, Mercedes Benz GL350 Bluetec SUV with Saskatchewan license plate 897 HMX.

Police said it's a case of an abduction by a stranger and there is no indication a family member is involved.

"This is a stolen SUV with a child in the back seat," King said. "This is not a parental abduction."

UPDATE: 8:45 p.m.

The mother of a six-year-old girl who has been abducted in North Battleford has put out a plea on Facebook for her daughter's safe return.

In a public post, Alison O'Keeffe thanks the public for their support so far, and begs them to stay vigilant in searching for her daughter, who suffers from epilepsy and autism, is non-verbal and is unable to walk.

"Thank you for driving searching for Emma. Please keep looking, search your properties, yards and outbuildings, even by foot. She would not know to seek help and will not respond to her name being called. She won’t even know to walk along the side of the road," O'Keeffe wrote.

"We need all the help we can get with her special needs, it makes it even more difficult. Please, please get her home."

An Amber Alert for six-year-old Emma has now been extended to Alberta and Manitoba. The car in which the child was taken is believed to have half a tank of gas.
