Tent camp cleared out

A tent city in Saanich that had been occupied since May has been cleared out.

Campers packed up Thursday night at Regina Park in Saanich following a court order last week.

A front-end loader was brought in and the area fenced off as police watched.

"Most people have now voluntarily decamped," police tweeted.

Some of the homeless were headed to nearby Rudd Park.

The injunction that forced them to move is expected to remain in place for eight months.
