Bears being bears

As the seasons begin to change all kinds of animals are preparing for winter, especially bears who hibernate until spring.

These two pictures sent to us by Tony Romeyn show a bear apparently enjoying the view from a tree in his backyard on the Nechako River in Prince George this week.

The bear looks pretty pleased with itself, no word on whether the bear might have found some fermenting fruit to gorge itself on before making the climb.

Stories of bears with a buzz have been making the rounds for years and at this time of year adult bears can consume up to 20,000 calories a day. Full grown bears are not known for their eating restraint when they are preparing for hibernation and on occasion have been seen staggering around after indulging in too many apples or other fermenting fruit.

Either way, this bear appears to be enjoying itself immensely.
