John Vassilaki announcing his mayoral run in 2014
Former Penticton councillor John Vassilaki appears poised to get involved in this fall’s municipal election.
A “special announcement” is set for Sept. 6 noon on the front steps of city, the same place he announced his run for the mayor's chair in 2014.
In a flyer circulating on Facebook, the local businessman said he “requests the presence of all his supporters and those who wish for their voice to be heard again.”
Vassilaki served on council for 12 years until he ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2014, losing to Andrew Jakubeit. He has been doing business in the community for decades, and owns Tiffany’s Boutique Mall on Main Street and several other properties in the community.
