A tractor-trailer driver created a scene in downtown Princeton this afternoon, by attempting to drive his rig over the small wooden single-lane Brown Bridge.
The historic crossing over the Tulameen River was built back in the 30s and is, obviously, not designed for modern transport trucks. Signs on both ends of the bridge clearly prohibit trucks over five tons and four metres.
That didn’t stop the driver of a BKFS Logistics truck from attempting the crossing Friday afternoon.
Video posted to the Similkameen Gazette Facebook page shows the truck hitting the upper supports of the bridge, before trying to back out, snapping the support.
While the truck has been removed, the bridge remains closed. No word when it will reopen. Motorist can cross the river using Highway 5A.
