Car smashes into home

One man has been arrested and police are searching for a second suspect after a speeding car slammed into a home in Surrey.

RCMP say around 6:15 p.m. Monday, an officer saw a black Mercedes sedan speeding in the 6000 block of 128 Street.

The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but the vehicle fled from police.

A short time and distance later the speeding Mercedes smashed into a house near 127th Street and 67 A Avenue. The impact of the crash caused extensive damage to the house, even sparking a fire. 

Luckily, nobody was hurt. 

"Witnesses to the incident observed two people fleeing from the vehicle," stated Cpl. Elenore Sturko. "One adult male was arrested near the scene of the collision with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services. Police are still looking for a second suspect and are asking witnesses who have not spoken to police to come forward."
