Smoke begins to clear

Air quality in the Okanagan is much improved Tuesday morning.

A change in wind speed and direction is moving wildfire smoke from the interior to the coast Tuesday morning.

According to the BC Air Quality website, air quality has improved from a 10+ in recent days to a still not great 6 in Vernon and a 5 in Kelowna and Penticton.

Depending on winds, air quality is expected to hover around 6 in the Okanagan with the exception of Penticton, where the AQHI, is expected to jump back up to 10+ this afternoon and is forecasted to drop back down to 8 tonight and back down to 5 tomorrow.

Kelowna is expected to rise to 6 later today and then hit 7 Wednesday. A similar story in Vernon except the AQHI is expected to remain at 6 today and tonight before hitting 7 tomorrow.
