A woman missing since Sunday in the mountainous Jumbo Pass area west of Invermere has been found.

Louise Baxter failed to return from a short walk after hiking in the area with friends.  

Search and rescue crews located her 72 hours later, in good health. She was flown back to a command post by helicopter and checked out by paramedics. Her dog was also in good health.

Search teams from Columbia Valley, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Golden, Revelstoke, Sparwood, Kaslo and Nelson all took part in the search. At the height of the search, there were three helicopters, four search dogs, a drone and more than 35 trained SAR volunteers involved.

“The teams faced challenging and difficult terrain, but persevered and focused on finding Louise.... It was
a huge sigh of relief when word came in that (she) had been located," said RCMP Sgt. Chris Newel.
