ORIGINAL: 4:22 p.m.

Two dogs on a flight from Toronto to Kelowna, Wednesday, escaped from the cargo terminal and are now on the loose.

The young standard poodles were bought by Kelowna resident Brian Rehwal, who was eagerly anticipating their arrival about noon, until the unthinkable happened.

"As they were taking them out of the terminal, they got away. They got separated. One of them is up in the orchards across the freeway. The other is down by the airport. They have been gone since 12:30 p.m," Rehwal said.

Several animal control officers have been scouring the area, as well as YLW staff members.

"I have been amazed with the help people have been providing. So many people have stopped and tried to help, but of course the dogs are scared and they won't let anyone get near them."

One, a black-haired one year old goes by the name Sparkle. The other is a one year old grey-haired poodle, named Flurry, Rehwal added. Both are about 50 pounds in size.

He's offering a $500 reward for each dog. If you spot Sparkle or Flurry, call 250-513-0279.
