Tires slashed during eviction

A bailiff was heard saying "it's done today" while carrying out an eviction at a notorious Penticton problem house, but the process on Tuesday wasn't without hassles.

Police are investigating after a man slashed the tires of one of the moving trucks involved in the eviction at 377 Winnipeg Street, at about 2 p.m.

"Upon the movers and bylaw officer approaching the man, he held up a large butcher style knife toward the group, and was then able to flee on a bicycle," Const. James Grandy said, adding the man fled towards Wade Avenue and Winnipeg Street.

No one was hurt as a result of the incident.

Grandy said police flooded the area but the suspect was not found.

Police said the tire slasher has dark complexion and dark shoulder-length hair. At the time, he was wearing black clothing and riding a green bicycle.

Those with information are asked to call Penticton RCMP.
