Falcons take game one

The Kelowna Falcons edged past the Bellingham Bells 4-2 Friday night at Elks Stadium to take game one of the North Division Final.

Kelowna scored four runs on 10 hits while the Bells tacked on two runs on five hits.

A sacrifice fly put the Bells on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning, but Austen Butler hit an RBI single to right center field to get the game even after two innings.

Taylor Wright hit a bomb deep to right field for his fist home run of the postseason to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth.

Garrett Kelly hit a big insurance run with an RBI single to center in the bottom of the 8th.

No more runs would score as the Falcons take game one 4-2 with Cal Hehnke on the mound to get the save.

Jared Akin pitched 6.1 strong innings in game one, James Brooks gets the start tomorrow.

The second and, if necessary third game, will be played Saturday and Sunday in Bellingham.

The winner of this series will face the winner of the South Division tussle between the expansion Portland Pickles and Corvallis Knights.
